Why cold process vegan soap is better for your skin and the planet

What “cold process” really means
Cold process soap is made by blending plant oils and sodium hydroxide at low temperatures, then curing the bars for several weeks. This gentle method preserves the natural glycerin created during saponification. Glycerin is a humectant—it draws moisture to the skin—so your bar cleanses without stripping.
Skin benefits you can feel
At Waterfall Glen Soap Company, our bars start with sustainable plant oils and butters, then get a boost from cold-infused botanicals like calendula, chamomile, lavender, and rosemary. Because we avoid high heat, delicate vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids remain intact, supporting a healthy skin barrier and helping calm dryness and visible redness.
Planet-friendly by design
Our vision is simple: always vegan with 99% plastic-free packaging. Bars ship and store with minimal, recyclable or compostable materials—no bulky plastic bottles. Concentrated bars last longer than liquids, reducing waste and carbon footprint across shipping and daily use.
Values you can trust
Since 2013 we’ve focused on vegan bar soap and skincare. We are members of the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetics Guild and Leaping Bunny certified since 2015, renewing each year to keep our commitments front and center.
How to make the switch
Wet hands, lather the bar, then massage onto skin. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Store on a draining dish to extend the life of your bar. Pair with a vegan body butter bar to seal in moisture after bathing.
