Waterfall Glen Soaps was a great local discovery in a lot of ways. First, the company's natural ingredients and care for the environment meets my high standards for my body, my peace of mind and my values.
Second, the lovely handmade bars look and smell wonderful in my soap dishes, and have become a nice part of my bathing aesthetic.
At Doug's (owner) suggestion, I cut each bar in half. With the first shower, the scrubbing bits were surprisingly effective on my dry flaky skin, leaving it clean, smooth, & flake free. I don't care about a lot of lather as it's often not a marker of effectiveness, but the charcoal bits are wonderfully invigorating and feel like a brisk facial cleansing all over my body. I'm also not into heavily scented anything as so many people are allergic to scents, so I love the light smell of natural ingredients that lingers after I towel off.
NOTE: As I've have reached my late 60's I don't sweat much. That, plus my skin has gotten so dry that my dermatologist recommended I only shower every 4-5 days and just spitz-bathe in between. So I waited several shower cycles to write this review to see if I'd go right back to my usual snake/shedding self. To my surprise and delight the flakiness has remained GREATLY reduced even without using lotion daily. That's a revelation in itself!
PS: I saw all the negative reviews about the soap's price, staying wet between uses, and melting away too quickly. That's not been my experience. My first half-bar is only slightly smaller now (see pic) and it dries just fine in between uses. Try a slatted soap holder like mine. A little more shrinkage is to expected with all the natural, eco-friendly ingredients Doug uses to improve our skin and not hurt the environment. I'm ok paying for that!
Love Waterfall Glen Soaps…. The only soap that I EVER use and it is local!!
